Tackless Ride With the Herd | Becoming One with the Horses

🌿✨ A peaceful ride home, completely tackless. ✨🐴

This evening, I walked out to the back ten acres where the herd was relaxing, and Slicker invited me onto his back—no tack, no ropes, just trust. Slowly, we meandered back toward the barn, and one by one, the entire herd fell in line behind us, moving as one.

It felt like a moment of pure connection, a deep integration into the herd. At one point, Valentine came up beside us, canoodling with Slicker, her back right next to mine, as if I were another horse in the herd.

The low evening sun, the warm March air, and the quiet rhythm of moving together in harmony made this ride one of the most magical I’ve ever experienced. No pressure, no force—just presence, trust, and belonging.

🐴💛 Moments like these are why I believe in Beyond the Saddle: Horses as Healers. There is so much more to the human-horse relationship than control—it is about partnership, presence, and stepping into the flow of the herd.
